The Writing Center moves to library, enhances accessibility with a central campus hub
STARKVILLE, Miss.— The Writing Center—a resource dedicated to aiding writers of all levels and facilitated by the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences—invites the Mississippi State community to an open house for their new location, Mitchell Memorial Library, followed by a reception for new MSU faculty members.
On Monday, August 26 at 5 p.m., tour the new location on the 2nd floor of the library, Room 2335. The reception will begin at 5:30 on the 3rd floor in the dean’s event space.
“We are excited about the Writing Center’s new location in the library because the centralized location will make our services more accessible and convenient for all writers on campus,” said English Department Head Lara Dodds.
“While our new location near the Drill Field and other campus resources will enhance students’ on-campus experience, our newly redesigned space will allow us more room to support MSU writers in a one-on-one setting,” said Loreeda Rios, director for the Writing Center and an English instructor. “We are thrilled to be in the Mitchell Memorial Library and to join the list of services being offered here.”
The Writing Center helps students, faculty and staff improve their writing skills and provides a range of services for academic, professional or personal projects, and offers individualized sessions with consultants who assist with various stages of brainstorming, drafting, revising and editing. Appointments—face-to-face or online—can be made using the online scheduling system at msstate.mywconline.com.
