Mike Brown, MSU professor of geosciences and state climatologist, helped develop and now oversees an app that allows him to submit detailed, highly localized information to the U.S. Drought Monitor. The Drought Monitor is a publication provided by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is the basis of much drought-relief efforts nationwide.

Candace Lukasik, an assistant professor in Mississippi State’s Department of Philosophy and Religion, is joining a highly selective program for emerging scholars poised to shape the future of religious studies.

Mississippi State University Assistant Professor Kemeshia Swanson is this year’s recipient of the Eudora Welty Prize for her new book “Maverick Feminist: To Be Female and Black in a Country Founded upon Violence and Respectability,” a 2024 University Press of Mississippi publication.
