STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University’s College of Arts and Sciences is announcing a newly created peer group—BSIS Connect—for students earning a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. The group will foster relationships among students in the program and aid in enhancing their academic careers.

BSIS is a university-wide degree coordinated through the College of Arts and Sciences, and it allows students maximum flexibility to custom-design a curriculum to meet their personal and career goals.

Led by advisor and CAS Academic Coordinator Kasondra Harris, BSIS Connect meets on the third Monday of each month at 5 p.m. on the 5th floor of Allen Hall. The organization is open to all students in the BSIS major.

“Involvement in this club gives students opportunities to connect with others in their same major, be provided with resources to ensure academic success and receive assistance from supportive academic coordinators,” Harris said.

BSIS Connect President Abigail Grace Ward, a sophomore from Forsyth County, Georgia, said the new organization is beneficial to all BSIS students.

“It’s a way for students with similar college paths to come together and get to know each other as well as help each other through the college experience,” Ward said.

Students interested in being part of BSIS Connect can contact Ward at agw320@msstate.edu or Harris at kharris@deanas.msstate.edu.
