Social Work Student Receives $1000 Margo Swain Scholarship
Lauren Cody (left), a social work field student, received the Margo Swain Scholarship sponsored by JoAnn Rounsaville (right), a social work program alumna. Laquita Brown (middle), scholarship chair, presented the $1000 award to Cody at the annual forum of the Mississippi Conference on Social Welfare held in Hattiesburg, MS, on September 14, 2018.
“The scholarship committee from the Mississippi Conference on Social Welfare selected Lauren based on her essay demonstrating her commitment to the mission of social work,” said interim head of the sociology department Adele Crudden. “Lauren competed against a number of other outstanding social work students, but her compelling essay captured the attention of the committee and secured her this $1000 award.”
Full-time social work majors at Mississippi State University with 30 credit hours and GPA of 2.5 are eligible to apply for the Margo Swain Scholarship.
