Faith Calvert, a 1986 graduate of Mississippi Sate University, believes that receiving an education at MSU not only brings about fond memories, but also carries much value throughout one’s life.
“The quality education that you will receive at Mississippi State will serve you in all areas of your life and career,” Calvert said.
Calvert received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at MSU, and continued her education at the University of Memphis where she received a master’s degree in counseling and educational psychology. She now works as a program director and therapist at the Parkwood Behavioral Health Systems in Memphis, Tennessee.
“For the past 30 years I have had the honor to work with so many children, adolescents, and adults in the mental health field,” said Calvert. “The knowledge that I have been able to positively impact these individuals in some small way is truly humbling.”
When looking back on her time at MSU, Calvert remembers and cherishes the special memories that came from being a part of the Bulldog Family. She encourages current students to enjoy every moment of their time here.
“Your time at MSU will be the best of your life. The friendships, the professors and the memories will forever be with you,” said Calvert. “Work hard, set your goals high, and let nothing get in your way.”
Calvert also believes that the friends one makes in college are the friends that last a lifetime. “I always tell people that my four years at MSU were the best four years of my life. I made lasting friendships with so many people, and even today I keep in touch with these individuals,” said Calvert.
Calvert explains that her favorite MSU traditions are the cowbell, tailgating and spending time in the union. She also said that her fondest memory from MSU is attending football games and enjoying the atmosphere of campus on game day. “Win or lose, the excitement of being there in the stadium and watching the team was always wonderful,” said Calvert.
In her spare time, Calvert enjoys painting and any sort of crafty project. She also enjoys reading and supports several animal rescue groups around the Memphis, Tennessee, area.
